There was a fatality from a fire in Citrus Heights early morning. Just after 9 a.m., units were sent to the site in the 6200 block of Mariposa Avenue, where they found signs of a fire in one bedroom that had burned itself out. ABC10 reports that among the little damage in the room, which included a burnt blanket and a few other small objects, the remains of a person were discovered laying in bed.

The cause of death and whether it was caused by the fire or occurred before it have not yet been established by Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials looking into the incident. According to KCRA, the cause of the fire is still unknown after this unfortunate incident. The events leading up to the fire are currently being looked into by the Citrus Heights Police Department. The deceased’s identity is still unknown.
