People in rural Pinellas County are still dealing with the effects of a recent storm. At the Icot Boulevard site, time is running out to get rid of storm-related trash. A news statement from Pinellas County said that the building at 13600 Icot Boulevard, Clearwater, will be closed to the public at the end of the week, on Sunday at 6 p.m.
People who don’t live in the city will have to quickly change their plans. They can either hire a hauler with access to a private spot or wait for Pinellas County’s debris contractor to make their rounds. The county wants to finish the first round of trash pickup by Thanksgiving and then do one last check right away.
County officials said the closure was necessary because the number of loads that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will pay has been steadily going down, and they say that debris collection efforts have made a lot of progress. The county had over 12,861 loads of storm waste, which is a lot of 366,831 cubic yards, by yesterday morning.
People who live in cities and aren’t sure what to do with their storm waste should ask their city officials for help. These kinds of people are ready to help and give important information during this time of rebuilding and healing.
