In an early morning heist gone wrong, a trio of catalytic converter thieves made headlines with their botched theft at Govanni Used Cars on Detroit’s west side. The incident unfolded on Thursday at approximately 5 a.m., and Detroit Police were actively investigating after security footage captured the fiasco, including one thief’s tumble from their getaway truck.

, shows the suspects slamming their truck into a pole before forcefully making their way into the dealership. The footage later shows one of them falling out of the vehicle as they quickly tried to flee the scene, a move that saw his gun scatter onto the pavement. Kola Gjonaj, the owner of Govanni Used Cars, found a silver lining in the thieves’ clumsiness, noting, “They got away with a converter and a whole lot of embarrassment.”
Gjonaj’s dealership, a fixture for over 37 years, encountered its first experience with such thieves. While he managed to keep his humor, Gjonaj offered a novel solution for the at-large suspects, detailing an open offer for employment at his dealership. This gesture, his interview, as per
