Bruce Sherbet has announced his retirement from his position as Collin County Elections Administrator, following more than 40 years of service in the field. With a remarkable 44-year existence, Sherbet has established itself as a leader in the industry and is steadfast in its support of community service and electoral integrity.According to the official news release from Collin County, his retirement will take effect on December 31 of this year.
Beginning in 1980, Sherbet progressed from being a Voter Registration Supervisor to becoming the powerful Elections Administrator for some of the most populated counties in Texas. These areas saw significant expansion and an advancement in their electoral infrastructure during his tenure. Having previously held the position of President of the Texas Association of Election Administrators and obtained the esteemed Certified Election/Registration Administrator certificate, his achievements and dedication have not gone ignored.
Sherbet, who is well-liked by his peers, provided some closing remarks about his time with Collin County. Serving Collin County residents has been an amazing honor and privilege. Collin County’s official news agency cited Sherbet as saying, “I have had the good fortune to work with a group of exceptional professionals and engage with countless engaged citizens over the past nine years.” Collin County Administrator Yoon Kim also praised Sherbet, highlighting the influence of his leadership on the area. “Bruce is an exceptional Elections Administrator, and Collin County will deeply miss his leadership, experience, and invaluable institutional knowledge,” Kim stated.
