Colorado Springs Woman Identified as Wrong-way Driver in Fatal Crash That Killed Texas Police Sergeant

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (DDN) – According to sister station KBTX, a Colorado Springs woman was identified on Monday evening as the driver in a wrong-way crash that killed a Texas police sergeant.

Police in College Station, Texas, claimed they attempted to stop 59-year-old Kimberly Lannigan of Colorado Springs when she allegedly attempted to cash a counterfeit check using a phony ID.

Texas cops and troopers allegedly pursued her until Lannigan turned around and began driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic.

Texas investigators said Lannigan drove nearly a mile and a half in the wrong direction before colliding with Navasota Police Department Sergeant Mark Butler, killing both of them.
