Colorado’s Oldest Theme Park Opens This Weekend for the Summer of 2024

Over the course of more than a century in Colorado, this historic theme park has been bringing smiles to the faces of families for generations, and this weekend marks the beginning of the next season of laughter and excitement at the park.

Historic Colorado Theme Park Kicks Off 117th Season This Weekend

Due to the fact that I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, I have had the privilege of seeing a great deal of the various wonderful local attractions that our city has to offer. Including, but not limited to, theme parks, water parks, mountain excursions, and more.

There are a handful of them spread all across the state, with the two largest ones, for which we are most well-known, being situated in Denver. When I was a kid, my favorite locations to spend the summer days were Elitch Gardens in Downtown Denver and Lakeside Amusement Park, which is located off of Interstate 70 on Sheridan Boulevard. Both of these attractions are located in Denver.

It was during the month of April when Elitches held its debut weekend, and this coming weekend, the Denver original, Lakeside, will be joining the party.

Lakeside Officially Opens For 2024 Season

I often travel past Lakeside on Interstate 70 throughout the wintertime, and it makes me impatient for summer to arrive so that the gates of Colorado’s oldest and most historic amusement and theme park may open for the following season. Lakeside amusement park is located in Colorado. This coming Saturday, May 11th, has been officially designated as the opening date for this year.

As of the 11th of May, the rides at Kiddieland will begin operating on the weekends at one o’clock, and the majority of the more significant attractions will be operational by two o’clock. Beginning on June 5th, Lakeside will be open on the majority of weekdays, but for the remainder of the month of May, it will only be open on weekends. This commitment will continue until Memorial Day Weekend. It is recommended that you check their website before you leave because the hours and days are always shifting.

Will The Cyclone At Lakeside In Colorado Be Open In 2024?

There has been no official announcement made on whether or not the Cyclone will be reopened for the 2024 season. The Cyclone was shuttered for the entirety of the previous season. However, there are reports that this famous roller coaster might finally be returning to service this summer. At the end of the previous season, they were testing the roller coaster, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that this iconic roller coaster will be back in operation this year.
