Columbus Man Fatally Shot, Two Injured Following Altercation on Dresden St

Tragedy struck the intersection of Dresden St and E Blake yesterday morning as a shooting left one man dead and two others injured. At approximately 11:44 am, Columbus Police Patrol Officers rushed to the scene following reports of gunfire. There, they discovered 22-year-old Nathaniel Camper, who was critically wounded and subsequently transported to the hospital, where he ultimately passed away from his injuries.

The Columbus Division of Police, through a media release, stated that two other victims self-transported to get medical attention quickly were treated and then released. Initial investigations suggest the incident might have erupted from an argument among the parties involved.

Following the incident, the victim was swiftly taken by CFD Medic 18 to a local hospital. Despite urgent medical interventions, Camper succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 12:08 pm. This loss adds to the city’s homicide count, marking a solemn beat in the rhythmic undercurrent of the city’s life that all too often plays out in bursts of violence.

Investigators are actively working to understand the full scope of what transpired. Detectives Poliseno and Journey have taken the lead on this case. Information is scarce, and authorities are turning to the public for assistance. The Columbus Police urge anyone with knowledge about the shooting to contact Detective Poliseno at (614) 645-6420, the Homicide Unit at (614) 645-4730, or to anonymously report to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).
