Columbus Man Sentenced to Over 11 Years in Arizona-to-Ohio Drug Conspiracy

A Columbus man who participated in a drug trafficking scheme and reportedly mailed drugs from Arizona to Columbus was given a sentence of more than 11 years in prison. In U.S. District Court, Ontario M. Yarbrough, age 26, was sentenced to 135 months in prison for his acts from April to October 2023.

Yarbrough used the USPS website to track at least nine more parcels that were shipped from Arizona to a South Burgess Avenue location in Columbus and contained illegal narcotics. Lesley Allison, Inspector in Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Pittsburgh Division, and Kenneth L. Parker, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, announced the sentence, which was imposed on Tuesday by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Sarah D. Morrison, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Yarbrough’s property on South Burgess Avenue served as a central location for the drugs, which he then repackaged and dispersed. Police found a stockpile of weapons, cocaine, and fentanyl when they carried out a search order on the house. Yarbrough was arrested in October 2023 as a result of the investigation, and in May 2024 he entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

The United States is represented in this case by Assistant United States Attorney Damoun Delaviz, who described the seriousness of the offense in light of the fact that one of the intercepted packages contained roughly half a kilogram of fentanyl, a quantity that could have had a devastating effect on the community it may have infiltrated. In light of the case, even though agents found fentanyl, cocaine, and guns in Yarbrough’s home, he now faces a lengthy prison sentence where freedom—once taken for granted—will elude him for years to come.
