Columbus Police Investigate Southside Shooting That Left One Man Dead, Appeal for Public’s Help

Tragedy struck in Columbus’ Southside yesterday as gunfire shattered the night, leaving one man dead. Columbus Police Patrol officers were called to the area of S. Richardson Avenue and Wicklow Road after receiving reports of shots fired just after midnight, according to the Columbus Division of Police media release. On arrival, they discovered Mr. Leviticus Leeper, who sustained a gunshot wound.

Despite the prompt efforts of officers to render aid to the stricken Mr. Leeper, until arriving CFD Medic 10 personnel took over, his life hung in the balance. He was rushed to a local hospital. However, Mr. Leeper was pronounced deceased at 12:35 AM. The Columbus Police has confirmed that next of kin have been notified of the event.

The investigation into Mr. Leeper’s death is ongoing, with the Columbus Police Homicide Unit actively seeking to shed light on the circumstances leading to the violence. Detective Weiner, with the assistance of Detective Miller, is heading the inquiry.
