A tragic incident occurred last night in Columbus’ Driving Park neighborhood, resulting in a 2-year-old boy being hospitalized after being struck by gunfire in his home. According toNBC4i, the Columbus police were dispatched around 10:15 p.m. following a ShotSpotter alert for multiple gunshots near East Sycamore Street and Ellsworth Avenue. The officers found the toddler suffering from a gunshot wound and promptly transported him to Nationwide Children s Hospital, where he was said to be in stable condition as of 11:55 p.m.

In a separate report,WBNSnoted that Sgt. Joe Albert of the Columbus Police detailed the incident as a drive-by shooting. Within less than a minute following the ShotSpotter activation, a 911 call was made with information about the toddler’s injury. The boy, who was initially reported to be in critical condition, was found to have been shot in the torso but is expected to survive his injuries now. Detailed information on what exactly led up to the shooting or who may have been responsible was not immediately available, with police yet to provide suspect information.

Adding to the narrative,FOX28reported that several shots were fired into the home, which resulted in the child being struck. Police arrived at the 900 block of Ellsworth Avenue just after 10 p.m. to investigate the grim scene. In the wake of the shooting, no suspects have been identified, and authorities are actively seeking information in this case.
