Community Mourns as Man Fatally Shot in North Memphis; Local Activists Call for Action

A recent shooting in North Memphis has resulted in the death of a man, in a community where local activists are tirelessly working to curb such violence. TheMemphis Police Departmentreported that the incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Locust Street near Pope Street where they discovered one man had been shot. However, the victim had left the scene seeking medical treatment before police arrived.

According to theFOX13 Memphisinterview, a community member named “Rowdy,” associated with Memphis Allies an organization dedicated to transforming dangerous communities into safer ones expressed his frustration over the shooting. “It don t make no sense what s happening,” Rowdy said. “It wasn t like this 10, 20 years ago, so it s us and a lot of other people out here every other day trying to make change, so we just got to come together.”

After the shooting, the injured man was taken to a fire station on Chelsea Avenue. He was subsequently transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition but later pronounced dead, as noted by the report fromWREG News Channel 3.
