Concord, NC Pays Tribute to Veterans with Citywide Observations and Altered Service Schedules

Concord, N.C., is preparing to honor its veterans with citywide observances and a brief pause on certain services this coming Monday. According to the

City of Concord’s official announcement

, government offices will shut their doors for Veterans Day, but not everything comes to a halt.

Residents can expect solid waste services to skip the holiday; with no trash, recycling, yard waste, bulky waste, or loose leaf collection happening on Monday, all services resume but with a one-day delay subsequent to the holiday. The city urges community members to have all items curbside by 6 a.m. the day of their rescheduled collection, and to keep informed, they can check their specific schedule by visiting the city’s website or using the CARTology mobile app.

Public transport, on the other hand, will not see such disruptions, with Rider Transit planning to run regular routes on Veterans Day. In a gesture of respect and acknowledgment, military veterans are prompted to utilize their Reduced Fare ID Card, which can be obtained by applying online or picking up an application at the Rider Transit Center Customer Service Office.

As for city-sponsored recreation, Concord’s recreational centers will be open for limited holiday hours, from noon to 6 p.m. While the David Phillips Activity Center and Lake Fisher are set to close for the day, the ClearWater Arts Center & Studios will welcome tenants and their guests as usual.
