Concord Pursuit Suspects Charged, Guerrero and Wheaton Face Multiple Felonies After Vehicle Thefts and Chase

The people involved in last week’s dramatic vehicle thefts and pursuit have been charged with felonies following a high-speed chase that caused disruptions to Concord residents. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has charged Alexander Guerrero and Samantha Wheaton with many felonies, including reckless evasion of a peace officer and car theft, according to the Concord Police Department’s social media accounts.

An effort to halt a car that was reported stolen from Alameda County on Monday resulted in a pursuit. The suspects escaped in another car, which was later found to be stolen, after leaving the car. Roadway closures and minor injuries resulted from this car’s subsequent head-on collision with another vehicle on Willow Pass Road. Although Concord Police disengaged prior to the collision, Wheaton and Guerrero were arrested as a result of the mayhem. Guerrero was charged with two counts of car theft, evading a peace officer, and possessing a stolen vehicle, all of which were related to his violent criminal past. Wheaton is charged with two counts of possessing a stolen car, in contrast.

There were repercussions for the local traffic flow following the incident. According to Hoodline, Willow Pass Road was stopped for an investigation for about an hour, which resulted in major delays. As of right now, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is holding both suspects.
