Convicted Felon Arrested with AR-Style Rifle after Fairfield Shooting; Arrest Made During Vacaville DUI Stop

An AR-style rifle was found in the suspect’s car after multiple complaints about gunfire on Blossom Avenue in Fairfield resulted in the arrest of a convicted criminal. Officers were searching the location for evidence and witness testimonies when they discovered about 15 spent shells and a damaged vehicle on Tuesday night, according to a social media post from the Fairfield Police Department.

Police were able to identify the suspect’s car according to witness accounts and FLOCK video surveillance. Later, the vehicle was pulled over in Vacaville during an unrelated DUI check. Police connected the car to the Fairfield shooting when they discovered spent bullets and an AR-style rifle inside during the stop. The suspect was identified as Matthew Fraticelli, a 46-year-old driver who had previously been wanted by the U.S. Marshals for weapons violations.

Fraticelli was taken into custody and charged once it was established that the car was involved in the shooting. He was further implicated as a convicted felon in possession of firearms when more ammo was found during a search of the vehicle.
