Convicted San Mateo County Rapist Timothy Layton Denied Parole After Two Decades in Prison

The District Attorney’s office said that Timothy Layton, the man found guilty of a string of vicious assaults in San Mateo County, will not be granted parole. After taking into account Layton’s prior transgressions and present attitude toward his misdeeds, a California prison parole board decided against his release. In a social media post, the San Mateo County District Attorney stated that Layton was viewed by the parole board as someone who “still fails to take responsibility for his crimes.”

After a hearing that one of our prosecutors attended, Timothy Layton (67) was denied parole. After an investigation by @SanBrunoPolice, Layton was taken into custody in 2002 for two distinct rapes at gunpoint. Layton continues to refuse to accept responsibility for his misdeeds, according to the parole board.Twitter: pic.twitter.com/90gVpg45XE

For the rapes of two young women on the Skyline College campus in San Bruno, Layton, now 67, has been incarcerated for more than 20 years. “A prior out of state conviction for attempted rape,” according to KRON4 News, is just one example of his violent past that goes outside the local jurisdiction. Back in 2003, the sentencing, which resulted in a 46-year-to-life sentence, reverberated throughout the courtroom as Layton angrily responded to the jury’s decision.

Layton’s victims experienced severe and horrific assaults after he located them in San Francisco’s Mission District and made them drive to a remote parking lot at gunpoint. The prosecution emphasized how one of the victims, a 24-year-old woman, was able to contact 911 right away after escaping, which was essential to his capture and subsequent legal action.
