Cook County Trio Charged with Aggravated Kidnapping and Armed Robbery in Lombard Incident

Three men from Cook County have been charged with severe offenses including aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery, following a horrific incident that took place yesterday in Lombard, as stated by the

DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office

. The accused, identified as Philip Stamps, Sr., 47, Philip Stamps, Jr., 22, and Joevontae Dixon, 23, were denied detention by Judge Joshua Dieden and are now awaiting a court appearance scheduled for December 2, 2024. Each faces a possibility of six to thirty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections upon conviction.

The alarming series of events purportedly unfolded on Wednesday, when the victim met with Stamps Jr. to potentially sell his Infinity Q45 luxury vehicle; however, this meeting spiraled into violence and terror that included the victim being beaten, threatened, and bitten. The Lombard Police Department’s quick response and investigations led to the apprehension of the suspects, despite the victim’s multiple failed attempts to escape his abductors.

In a statement obtained by the

Lombard Chief of Police Thomas Wirsing also commended the cooperation between local and federal agencies which brought the ordeal to an end and facilitated the rescue of the victim, who, according to the investigation, suffered considerable physical abuse and “three hours of terror.”

While the victim’s ordeal has ended with medical attention and the accused behind bars, the public is reminded by officials to regard the charges brought against the men as accusations, which means their legal battle is far from over; the defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
