Coon Rapids Set to Spark Holiday Cheer with Season of Giving Kick Off Event

With their Season of Giving Kick Off event on Sunday, November 24, Coon Rapids is embracing the spirit of giving as the holidays approach. The Coon Rapids Ice Center will host celebrations from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with games, prizes, and other activities for the community, according to a notice on the City of Coon Rapids website. It is suggested that attendees bring a donateable item to the event to kick off this generous season.

A mix of inside and outdoor entertainment is provided by the evening’s events, which include a special appearance by Rocky, the city’s adored mascot, as well as a number of games and prizes aimed at entertaining the younger attendees. With a donation, there is a free indoor public skate entry promotion for individuals who want to take a spin around the rink. Free outdoor ice games and skating are also available to visitors, weather permitting. With car displays for people of all ages to view, the festival also acts as a showcase for the Public Works, Police, and Fire services.

The Season of Giving contribution drive begins on November 25 and ends on December 17 after the Sunday celebration. Donations are accepted at City Hall, 11155 Robinson Dr., during regular work hours. Toys, food, and other items can be donated at all Coon Rapids Fire Stations, the Ice Center, and Bunker Hills Golf Club, among other city-hosted collection locations. Items that can be donated include non-perishable food and toiletries, new, unwrapped toys and winter clothing, and cash.

The money raised will go toward a variety of regional projects and aid initiatives. The ACBC Food Shelf, Granny’s Closet, Alexandra House, Toys for Joy and the Christmas Committee, and Mercy Hospital Partners are among the recipients. This program provides a number of opportunities for locals to get involved and help those in need, and it perfectly captures the sense of community and compassion that Coon Rapids seeks to exhibit during the season of giving.
