Cornelius Hosts Ninth Annual All-Welcome Thanksgiving Community Dinner with Local Partners

The Ninth Annual Cornelius Community Dinner will be hosted by the City of Cornelius in partnership with Centro Cultural de Washington County and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Over 400 turkey holiday lunches are expected to be served to attendees of this free, public event. Those who wish to attend the feast this Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cornelius Elementary School, 200 N. 14th Ave, Cornelius, OR 97113, do not need to make reservations.

Without the widespread support of local companies and groups, the yearly custom—which has grown to be a mainstay of the Cornelius holiday season—would not be feasible. The Cornelius Walmart, the Cornelius Booster Club, and Bimbo Bakeries USA are some of the contributors. These neighborhood partners are crucial in supplying the money and labor required to properly organize such an event, along with others like Botten’s Equipment & Event Rental and Reser’s Fine Foods. In addition to sharing a meal, participants will have the opportunity to interact with local law enforcement, fire authorities, and city leaders.

Cornelius City Manager Peter Brandom thanked the community for its support in a statement announcing the meal. One of the highlights of the year is our yearly Community Dinner, which brings people together to connect over a meal. Additionally, it’s an opportunity to help people in need by providing a hot meal to those who truly need it. This significant event would not have been possible without the support of all of our businesses and community partners,” Brandom stated. The event’s contribution to building community support and spirit was highlighted in the Washington County official statement.
