Corona Man Charged With Lewd Acts Against Minor; Second Suspect Sought as Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Investigation Continues

A troubling report of indecent conduct against a youngster prompted the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station to launch an investigation last month. The claims involved two adult males allegedly exploiting a male juvenile. One person connected to these horrible deeds was eventually captured by the investigators after a thorough investigation of social media traces and a battery of interviews.

When authorities learned that 24-year-old Corona resident Joel Rikardo Medina intended to promptly set up a meeting with the victim on November 5, the inquiry took a dramatic turn. Equipped with this information, investigators conducted a sting operation and, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, were able to apprehend Medina in the 100 block of McKinley Street. He was taken into custody without any more incidents. Medina is currently facing numerous allegations, including multiple counts of sexual assault against a minor and indecent actions. The Robert Presley Detention Center is where he is being kept at the moment.

Still at large is the second suspect in the exploitation. To find and identify this person, the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s investigators are persistently searching through leads and evidence. No new information has been made public as of yet, and the inquiry is still active and ongoing.

The public is being urged by authorities to come forward with any information that could help apprehend the second suspect. If anyone has important information, they can contact Investigator Shamhart, who is currently working on the case, at the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station by calling 951-272-5600.
