Crash on U.S. 24 Leaves Four Dead, Including Child, and Two Seriously Injured

PAULDING COUNTY, Ohio (DDN) – Four Indiana residents were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision Friday night in Northwest Ohio.

According to a news statement from the State Highway Patrol sent to the West Bend News, the crash occurred at 9:13 p.m. Friday on U.S. 24, roughly 15 miles from the Indiana border.

A 72-year-old man from Clio, Michigan, was driving a 2024 Peterbilt semi east on US 24 when it drove left of center and across the median.

The Peterbilt then collided head-on with a Honda Pilot in the westbound lanes, according to the news release.

The Honda’s driver, Amin Mukbel Humaidi, 35, and three passengers, Nadia Humaidi, 40, Rajaa Humaidi, 21, and Asmaa Humaidi, 3, were all confirmed dead at the site, according to the patrol. All of the victims were from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Another passenger in the Honda, Hamzah Humaidi, 14, of Fort Wayne, was helicoptered to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. WTVG Channel 13 says that the teen is expected to live. The driver of the Peterbilt was sent to a hospital in Defiance, Ohio.

The patrol said the crash is still being investigated.
