Crookston boys’ golf places 10th in Detroit Lakes invite
The Crookston Boys’ golf team, which started for the second time this season, finished 10th out of 10 teams at the DL Earlybird Invite Friday afternoon in Detroit Lakes.
The invitation was played on the Lakeview Golf Course, an unorthodox, par-64 course on the shores of Lake Sallie just outside the Detroit Lakes. The Pirates had a team score of 353, 97 strokes above par and finished 18 strokes behind Crosby-Ironton in ninth place.
Kaleb Thingelstad, who led the pirates by finishing third at the Grafton Invitational on King’s Walk Golf Course last week, shot a 13-over-par 77 to finish 31st.
Blaine Andringa shot an 83 and Ashton Shockman a 93. Lucas Winger and Gavin Winger, who both played in their first varsity tournaments of the season, shot 100 and 104, respectively, and Brannon Tangquist scored 109.
Fargo Davies (ND) won the team title with a score of 273, two strokes ahead of hosts Detroit Lakes. Beck Erholtz from Staples-Motley won on the singles side with a par 64
NEXT: The pirates will compete in the Pequot Lakes Invitational on Wednesday April 21st at the Legacy Golf Course in East Gull Lake.
