Dallas Animal Services Celebrates Wins and Prepares for Festive Season with Photo Challenges, Volunteer Parties, and Special Adoption Events

The most recent Dallas Animal Services (DAS) Volunteer Newsletter predicts a busy holiday season for Dallas’ canine friends. In the “Cozy Cuddler” photo challenge, DAS dog Zeus (A1228467) triumphed, standing out from his cute rivals. DAS has launched its “Biggest Smile” picture challenge to highlight the happy smiles of its canine residents in an effort to capitalize on this trend.

On Friday, December 13, White Rock Alehouse will host the Volunteer Holiday Party, which is open to volunteers and dog lovers alike. To honor dedication to animal welfare, Friends of DAS is kindly providing raffle prizes, food, and drink tickets. Please commit to comfort by December 6; further information can be found via the RSVP link for attendance.

For night owls who want to help dogs on their first leg of the journey to adoptive homes, a new volunteer opportunity is calling. The “Canine Concierge” will allow volunteers to work directly with canines starting on November 17th, in preparation for their transportation to partner shelters across the country, according to the City of Dallas. From walks to crate preparations, this program aims to make sure animals get off to a good start on their adventures and help transfer them to the skies for their voyage to forever homes.

On a more humorous side, the DAS is preparing for “Moonlight Muttness,” an adoption event that will be open later on November 23rd to accommodate adopters who are looking to adopt at night. This event, which promises a variety of assistance stations from meet and greets to kennel upkeep, strives to honor the animals in their care and find them loving homes. Volunteers can register for both day and evening shifts via the DAS website if they are keen to help make the event a success and may even receive some training to interact with potential adopters with confidence.
