Dallas Man Kyvontre Elmore Sentenced to Life Without Parole for Capital Murder of Jose “Antonio” Acosta Galvan in Collin County

According to the Collin County District Attorney’s Office’s official website, Kyvontre Elmore, a 28-year-old Dallas resident, has been confirmed by Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis to serve a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the murder of Jose Antonio Acosta Galvan.

A jury that was shown a variety of incriminating evidence convicted Elmore guilty of capital murder. Surveillance footage and many Instagram postings Elmore made prior to the crime were among the evidence; Galvan was shot dead on January 10, 2023, while in his truck, which was later discovered abandoned and burned.

According to the statement from the DA’s office, the Dallas Police Department, led by Detective Michael Nealey, carried out a thorough investigation that included obtaining surveillance footage, following Elmore to his girlfriend’s McKinney apartment, and examining phone records that showed Elmore’s whereabouts prior to and following the murder.

Additionally, Euless Police Officer Jarad Hawthorne’s retrieval of a gun during an unrelated arrest was a major turning point in the case. April Kendrick of the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences conducted forensic analysis on this gun and determined that it was the murder weapon. This confirmed the evidence against Elmore, whose incriminating Instagram posts, including a video showing a gun that looked like the murder weapon just over an hour before the killing, were a major focus of the trial.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Ashlyn Scott and Jamin Daly, with assistance from Victim Assistance Coordinator Melissa White and District Attorney Investigator Michael Bennett.
