Dallas Police Charge Two Teenagers with Murder in Ambush of Man Changing Tire

Two teenagers, including a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old, have been arrested and charged with the murder of 22-year-old Alexis Fernando Estrada Zambrano in Dallas. According to

, on Oct. 26, Zambrano was attempting to change a flat tire on Dilido Road in Old East Dallas when the incident occurred. An arrest warrant affidavit detailed how Zambrano was shot after getting into a physical altercation with the 16-year-old suspect.

Police quickly identified the suspects using security camera footage from the area. It showed the 16-year-old running from the crime scene in the company of 18-year-old Jason Steven, who had been in the car with Zambrano before the shooting. The two other passengers fled in a different direction to hide. According to the information detailed by

, Steven made a phone call to Zambrano for a ride. He informed the 16-year-old and another accomplice of their location once they got a flat tire, suggesting a deliberate attack.

During the interrogation, the 16-year-old told police that a plan “was made by [Steven] to get [Zambrano] alone in order for the accomplice to kill him,” as per

All three suspects are now facing murder charges. Steven is being held without bail at the Dallas County Jail and placed on an immigration hold.
