A New Year’s celebration escalated into an unlawful street invasion in Los Angeles’ Vermont Vista area, complete with pyrotechnics and risky antics.
On Wednesday morning, video footage captured spectators and cars congregated near the Imperial Highway and Hoover Street crossroads.
At one point, a white sports car was doing donuts near a lighted firework when it exploded, sending sparkles into the air and possibly the audience.
The blast triggered many car alarms and concealed the sports car behind a wall of smoke.
Other automobiles were spotted performing burnouts with people hanging out the windows, while bystanders jumped out of the path to avoid the moving vehicle.
It was not clear how long the takeover lasted or whether any arrests were made.
