Da’Shawn Hand’s rookie season ends after Detroit places him on injured reserve | Prince William
The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday that they would be transferring Woodbridge High School graduate Da’Shawn Hand to the injured reserve. The move means the rookie defensive lineman’s season is over.
Hand, an Alabama fourth-round player, injured his knee in the first quarter against Arizona two weeks ago and didn’t play Buffalo last Sunday.
The decision ends an impressive first year for Hand. Pro Football Focus ranks Hand as the 13th best central defender in the NFL and next to safety Derwin James as the best defensive rookie.
In 13 games, including eight starts, Hand had a total of 27 tackles and three sacks. His two biggest highlights were a sack of sacking from Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who helped kick off a touchdown in the Lions victory and fumble with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
