Davis Community Invited to 43rd Annual Candlelight Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 5

The City of Davis is gearing up for its 43rd annual Candlelight Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony. Set to light up the town on December 5, 2024, the event will begin with a parade starting at 6 p.m. from the Davis Food Co-op parking lot, winding its way to the E Street Plaza. Those looking to join in on the festivity should arrive at the starting point, located at 620 G Street, before 5:45 p.m., as reported by the official

Motorists be warned: street closures will impact the normal ebb and flow of downtown traffic. G Street, Third Street, and E Street will all see rolling shutdowns, which may cause delays, especially around intersections such as Fifth Street. Parade attendees and evening commuters should prepare for possible slowdowns, as the city comes alive with festive cheer. For convenience, attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, or use public transit to attend the celebrations.

Upon the parade’s conclusion at E Street Plaza, Mayor Josh Chapman and the Davis City Council members will commence the official tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. As part of the evening’s entertainment, the crowd will be treated to performances from local groups, the charm of horse and carriage rides, and the wandering of mascot characters. The Varsity Theatre is hosting free showings of the short film “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure,” with Santa and Mrs. Claus stopping by for photo opportunities.

According to a statement made by the
