Snowfall around Rabbit Ears Pass could accumulate to “4 to 8 inches,” while the rest of the high mountains might see “1 to 4 inches,” with less than 2 inches forecasted for the valleys. Windy conditions are also forecasted in the mountains this afternoon and on the plains by early evening with gusts reaching 30 to 40 mph, before subsiding later into the night.

For the following days, the service has predicted, dry conditions are expected through Friday with the next chance of snow in the mountains on Saturday. As the weather developments unfold, the National Weather Service advises that Spotter activation will not be needed today or tonight. This could be a good window for locals to venture outdoors before the week’s end ushers in the next bout of wintry mix.
