Detroit closing roads, rerouting buses to prepare for Thanksgiving parade, Lions game

(CBS DETROIT) In anticipation of several Thanksgiving events, such as the Lionsgame, the Turkey Trot, and America’s Thanksgiving Parade, the city of Detroit is blocking roads and rerouting buses this week.

Road closures

For the Turkey Trot on Thursday, the following routes will be closed from 5 a.m. to around 10 a.m.:

From 7 a.m. until the Turkey Trot is over, the southbound Lodge Freeway exits at West Jefferson Avenue and Larned Street as well as the northbound exit at West Jeffferson Avenue will be closed.

Beginning Wednesday at 6:30 a.m., the Detroit People Mover will operate every day for 36 hours straight, ending Thursday at 7 p.m. Every station will be operational.

Bus reroutes

Due to the parade, the following bus routes will be affected Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

On Thanksgiving, all normal routes will run on a Sunday schedule with regular prices, according to the Detroit Department of Transportation.

Parking

According to city officials, cars that obstruct fire hydrants, driveways, crosswalks, or other important access points will receive tickets and may even be towed.
