(CBS DETROIT) A Detroit man who fatally shot his 2-year-old kid is being charged with numerous felonies.

The 25-year-old Darius Daron Shantez Lacey faces five felony firearm charges, one case of first-degree home invasion, two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault with purpose to cause serious bodily damage, and one act of fourth-degree fleeing and eluding.

Police say Lacey tried to break into his son’s mother’s house in the 550 block of Dickerson Avenue at approximately 5:45 p.m. on November 26. Lacey drove away from the scene when local police tried to pull him up for having the wrong license plates.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. that evening, Lacey reportedly made her way back to the house. According to reports, Lacey broke into the house during a fight with his son’s mother and shot his son multiple times, wounding him in the leg. A nearby hospital provided care for the infant.

He was granted a $500,000 bond upon his arraignment on Friday. On Tuesday, Lacey will return to court for a hearing on bond redetermination. Additionally, he faces a preliminary examination on December 16 and a probable cause conference on December 9.
