Detroit Lions Pick Up Frank Ragnow’s Fifth-Year Option
One of the cornerstones of the Detroit Lions’ offensive line has just earned a hefty pay raise.
General Manager Brad Holmes and the Detroit Front Office have decided to avail the center’s Frank Ragnow option for the fifth year, according to a report from the NFL network.
As a result of Ragnow’s Pro Bowl appearance in 2020, he will make $ 12.657 million in fully guaranteed cash in 2022.
A long-term deal is expected to be negotiated before 2022.
In this year’s draft, when Taylor Decker was asked if he would like to add an offensive lineman to the mix, he found that adding more linemen that showcase Ragnow’s talent and caliber can only help the organization.
“I mean, I’m all for adding someone to help the team win,” Decker said during his final media session on Tuesday. “Take a lineman on the first round. A couple of years after me they took Frank (Ragnow). Frank turns out to be an All-Pro, Pro Bowl type. He’s one of my best friends. Take all the linemen in Draft Me love it because I’m an offensive lineman and I see a lot of value in this position. ”
Last season, Ragnow didn’t allow a sack in 929 snapshots and only had three penalties against him all season. He received a PFF rating of 80.3.
In 2019, Ragnow only allowed two sacks of 996 offensive snapshots and received a 74.9 grade from Pro Football Focus – sixth among 38 qualified centers.
