Detroit police chase, MSP chopper pursuit ends in Greektown Casino garage

Police, who discovered a car linked to a shootout in town, were led on a car chase that ended in a garage at Greektown Casino Thursday night.

It was the second persecution on Thursday triggered by a search for a possible suspect that resulted in an arrest, police said.

At around 8 p.m. near Kelly and Hayes, officers spotted a silver Nissan Ultima that matched the description of an auto agency involved in a shooting Saturday on the east side, said Sgt. Nicole Kirkwood, a Detroit Police spokeswoman Department.

The sedan started and took officers on a brief chase until a Michigan State Police helicopter chased the Nissan, she said.

The car was seen driving to the parking garage at Greektown Casino downtown. Officers found the Nissan empty, said Kirkwood.

“With the help of the casino staff, we were able to determine that the suspect got into another vehicle,” said Kirkwood at the construction site.

The officers discovered the suspect in the other car. He was arrested for escaping and escaping. His car was also confiscated.

When John Drake, vice president and general manager of Greektown, arrived Thursday night, he made no comment on the incident.

“… We work closely with law enforcement to keep our customers and team members safe,” said Drake.
