Detroit police seek tips in shootings on east, west sides


Detroit police are investigating two shootings reported Thursday on the east and west sides of the city that injured two people.

In one incident, a 58-year-old man walked outside between 8 am and 9 am near Elmdale and Chalmers “when two unknown white men came up to him in an unknown vehicle” and opened fire, police said in a statement .

The victim was hospitalized in a temporarily serious condition, according to the release.

At around 2:30 pm, a 43-year-old man was driving a GMC Acadia near Winthrop and Clarita when the driver “commented on two unknown men who were leaving,” police said. “After the comment was made, several shots were fired into the vehicle.”

The passenger realized he was shot and the driver drove him to a hospital. The victim was listed in stable condition.

A description of the suspects was not released on Friday.
