Detroit Red Wings to hold 3 scrimmages during training camp
Detroit – The Red Wings will have three intrasquad scrimmages that kick off the NHL season on January 14th.
The Wings published details of the shortened training camp on Wednesday and also published the list of 40-man training camps.
The Wings will hold an intrasquad scrimmage on January 5th, 8th and 10th to quickly adapt to the game action.
The Wings have not played a game since March 10 when the NHL paused their season due to the pandemic.
The Wings had the worst record in the league and were one of seven teams not invited to the Summer’s Return To Play tournament.
The wings will split their list into two teams during camp and do two daily exercises.
The Wings – and the rest of the NHL, it seems – will be able to broadcast their prospects for development in the American League.
The AHL, the NHL’s premier development league, announced on Wednesday that it would begin its season on February 5th.
A league statement said a “structural framework” for a return to the game was in place but no further details were released.
The Wings subsidiary is the Grand Rapids Griffins.
