Detroit Red Wings will feature branding on helmets


Detroit – This season advertisements will appear on Red Wings helmets.

The Red Wings have entered into a multi-year partnership with United Wholesale Mortgage from Michigan. The brand will appear on Wings’ home, away and practice helmets during the season that begins January 14th.

“We’re excited to welcome UWM as the Official Mortgage Partner of the Detroit Red Wings, and that this innovative Michigan-based company is the first partner to wear our iconic red and white helmets,” said Chris Granger, Group President. Sports & Entertainment, Ilitch Holdings, Inc. said in a statement. “UWM is a pleasure to work with and we look forward to working with you in the years to come.”

Numerous NHL teams have put a sponsor logo on their helmets this season in an effort to generate lost revenue due to the pandemic.

The NHL, which still relies heavily on live participation, has been hit hard by the fact that few markets will be allowing fans in seats earlier this season.

General Manager Steve Yzerman said in his pre-camp media chat that he supports every opportunity to increase revenue.

“We have to be creative. Obviously our earnings have suffered a significant slump, ”said Yzerman.

“I have no problem with that. It’s a good opportunity to try it out and see if we can generate any income from it. It’s the norm outside of North America in every league. “

The UWM sticker is affixed to the left and right sides of the helmet and the helmet is worn throughout the season for home and away games as well as for training.

In addition to the helmet branding, the UWM branding in the Little Caesars Arena is also provided with an on-ice logo as well as a distinctive dasher board and penalty area signage. Digital branding is used in all areas of the arena bowl and hall.

The parking garage at 128 W. Fisher Service Drive is also known as the United Wholesale Mortgage Garage. New signage will be installed shortly.
