Rescue teams in Detroit have suspended their search for a missing person in the Rouge River. The search was called off on Friday night around 10 p.m. after teams were unable to locate the individual.
According to FOX 2, the missing person was a man who ended up in the Rouge River near Ford Street in southwest Detroit.
As part of the search effort, dive teams were deployed to the water, and rescue crews stationed themselves near the recently developed Ford Street Bridge Park area.
This park is one of the newest additions in the region, and it became a central point for the search, with teams from the Detroit Fire Department, Detroit Police Department, and the U.S. Coast Guard involved in the operation.
During the search, the drawbridge in the area remained raised to allow for better access to the river.
Earlier on Friday, a 911 call alerted officials about a man who had either fallen into the river or jumped in and had not resurfaced.
Rescue teams conducted an intense search, but no sign of the man was found. FOX 2 also reported that family members were seen gathering in the area as the search took place.
Although the search was suspended on Friday night, officials have confirmed that they plan to resume the search on Saturday.
The efforts to locate the missing person continue, with authorities working to gather more information and provide updates as needed.
