A local t-shirt and lifestyle brand is getting a big boost from an international luxury clothing and accessories empire, all on behalf of “everyone”.

Tommey Walker, founder of apparel brand Detroit Vs. All partnered with Gucci to create a line of limited edition t-shirts that will expand the iconic Detroit brand to 11 US cities to help local nonprofits that aim to empower and empower the color communities in these cities.

“My partnership with Gucci is a dream come true not only for me and my team, but also for celebrating the cultural richness and innovation of the city of Detroit,” Walker told The Detroit News.

Since launching in 2012, Walker’s brand has been a celebration of Detroit’s often overlooked cultural contributions. However, Gucci Changemakers’ recent collaboration is an attempt to move the brand forward in terms of unity and inclusion. That’s why the limited edition collection offers city-specific t-shirts in Gucci stores in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington, DC

The collection, made available on Monday March 1, has been in the works since 2019 when Walker crossed paths with North American Gucci leaders at an event at Cass Technical High School. The tees don’t stray far from the Vs. All signature black 100% cotton crew necks, but they’ve been updated to include the Gucci logo on the back.

Detroit Vs. Everyman’s Classic T-shirt is $ 34.99, while the Italian-made Gucci version is available for retail sale in several cities for a hefty $ 390. The proceeds will go to local nonprofits in these cities as part of Gucci’s Changemakers initiative. Recipients of this year’s Changemakers Impact Fund winners include Journi, a youth-focused Detroit nonprofit that seeks to provide resources and equip Detroiters with technical skills.

Shirts are currently available in store in the Troy Somerset Collection Gucci. The collection will be available online shortly.
