Detroit woman charged with carjacking mail carrier
A 40-year-old Detroit woman was charged with stealing a postman and driving off the victim’s mail van, Wayne County Attorney Kym Worthy said Friday.
Sadie Lakisha Hawkins is accused of forcibly pulling the postman out of her United States Postal Service van during a carjacking and escaping the scene at around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday on the 12600 block of Monte Vista. The police were called to the scene.
Hawkins was arrested Thursday after an investigation by the Detroit Police. She is charged with a number of carjacking, a number of unarmed robbery, a number of receiving and hiding stolen property over $ 20,000, and a number of illegally driving away a car.
Hawkins was tried in 36th District Court Friday and received a $ 25,000 bond.
