Detroit Woman Seriously Injured in Pit Bull Attack While Walking to Store on New Year's Eve

DDN – A Detroit woman claims she was mauled by two pit bulls on New Year’s Eve and spent the holiday in a hospital bed. Strangers stopped to help her, and she claims they were also attacked.

The woman, who only goes by Ashley, is still looking for answers after being attacked at 10:40 a.m. near Plymouth Road and Meyers Road while walking to her neighborhood booze and convenience shop.

“That could’ve been a child and not me, ’cause kids walk to the store all the time,” she joked. “It was like why me, like why did it happen to me?”

Ashley claims two huge pit bulls appeared out of nowhere and attacked her. She yelled for help, seeking to escape by climbing a fence. Strangers stopped to help her after she was attacked on her arm and leg. Ashley claims they were then attacked as well.

“Everyone who tried to help me was injured. One guy’s head was severed. I’m very grateful to them because without them, I wouldn’t be here,” she remarked.

Detroit Police responded and confirmed that one dog was shot and killed. Ashley stated that it happened while the pit bull was attempting to attack an officer. According to authorities, animal control took the second dog.

Meanwhile, Ashley was taken to a nearby hospital and rang in the New Year from a hospital bed. She wants the owner held accountable so that the neighborhood may resume normal activities.
