Detroit Zoo Illuminates Winter Nights with ‘Wild Lights’ Extravaganza Featuring Over 5 Million LEDs

With its yearly Christmas extravaganza, Wild Lights, the Detroit Zoo is set to illuminate the night and offer visitors a vivid trip through a brilliant winter wonderland covered in more than five million LED lights. According to ClickOnDetroit, the event, which is scheduled to start on Saturday and run through January 5, 2025, will be the best time for visitors to explore the illuminated trails, which include tall lights animal sculptures and a captivating assortment of themed displays.

In addition to an eye-candy display of lights, visitors can anticipate a number of unique attractions this season, such as a photographic expedition into the wild captured by Guadalupe Laiz and the return of beloved favorites like the Toyland sculptures and a 4D theater performance of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, according to FOX 2 Detroit.

Senior Director of Guest Experience Emily O’Hara told FOX 2 Detroit, “We are thrilled to host one of southeast Michigan’s most anticipated winter traditions.” O’Hara’s excitement highlights the event’s objective of making memories for community members of all ages, which is further strengthened by their request that attendees give brand-new mittens or gloves to the nonprofit organization Mittens for Detroit.

According to LittleGuide Detroit, general entry to the Detroit Zoo starts at $17. Other packages include zoo visits, food, beverages, and holiday activities like movie screenings and carousel rides.
