Diman Regional is pleased to announce Madison DaCosta will graduate as valedictorian of the Class of 2025.
Madison DaCosta, a standout senior in our Medical Assisting program, is making waves as she prepares to embark on her journey to Emmanuel College this fall. Madison has earned a spot in our Top Ten for numerous reasons that showcase her exceptional qualities and achievements. Her commitment to academic excellence is evident through her membership in both the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, and she has also been an active participant in Key Club, demonstrating her dedication to community service. Through her involvement in SkillsUSA, Madison has honed her vocational abilities, and she’s currently putting these skills to use in a real-world setting, employed as a medical assistant at GYN OB Associates. This practical experience aligns perfectly with her career focus, as she plans to pursue a Nursing major to build on her medical assisting background. Madison has proven herself to be a networking pro, engaging with like-minded individuals through various activities, and her commitment to giving back to the community is clear through her consistent involvement in service projects. One of Madison’s most impressive qualities is her strong work ethic, as she has successfully balanced academics, extracurricular activities, and part-time work throughout her high school career. This ability to juggle multiple responsibilities demonstrates her readiness for the challenges of college and beyond. Madison is strategically preparing for a career in healthcare, showing a clear focus on her future goals. Her dedication to her studies, involvement in multiple honor societies, and hands-on experience in the medical field make her a shining example of Diman’s commitment to preparing students for successful careers. We wish Madison the best as she continues her educational journey at Emmanuel College, confident that she will excel in her pursuit of a nursing degree and beyond.
Skyla Viera, an outstanding Medical Assisting student, will graduate as the salutatorian of Class of 2025 from Diman Regional in Fall River, MA. While at Diman, Skyla’s impressive achievements and dedication to community service have stood out amongst the rest. This future pediatric DNP has excelled in multiple organizations, including Key Club, National Honor Society, and SkillsUSA, where she earned an impressive five medals. Skyla’s commitment to personal growth led her to join BPA in her senior year, resulting in a first-place win at the state level. Her volunteer work spans various school events and local businesses, showcasing her community spirit. Currently, Skyla puts her skills to work as a head Medical Assistant at PrimaCare Pulmonary through Diman’s Cooperative Education program. With plans to attend Emmanuel College for Nursing, Skyla’s journey from pushing beyond her comfort zone to achieving remarkable success serves as an inspiration to her peers and a testament to the power of determination and hard work.
Jenna Barboza, a senior in the Medical Assisting program and Diman’s third ranked student in the Class of 2025, will attend Salve Regina University this fall. While at Salve Regina, Jenna will work towards a bachelor’s degree in biology, focusing on the pre-med track. Her goal is to go to medical school and become a pediatrician. Jenna will major in biology and minor in neuroscience, all part of her pre-med studies. During her four years at Diman, Jenna has been incredibly active. As a younger student, she played volleyball, softball, and basketball. She also took part in SkillsUSA, the newspaper club, and Business Professionals of America (BPA). In her junior year, she made it to the national conference for BPA. The next year, she became the secretary for the organization. For the past two years, Jenna has been a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). These groups have helped her get involved in her community. She’s volunteered for Relay-For-Life, a cancer fundraising event, for several years in a row. Jenna now works at Prima Care Cardiology as a medical assistant, a job she obtained through Diman’s Cooperative Education program. Jenna believes that being involved at Diman has shaped her idea of community and has helped her build many important skills. She feels it has made her a better leader and communicator and has given her the ability to help those around her.
Melanie Rivera, a senior in the Drafting program, has been recognized as the fourth-highest ranking student in Diman’s Class of 2025. During her time at Diman, Melanie took part in the school’s Cooperative Education program, working as a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Designer at Avance Cabinetry. She actively participated in numerous honors and Advanced Placement courses, demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence through countless hours of dedicated study. Following graduation, Melanie plans to continue her work with Avance Cabinetry throughout the summer. She has set her sights on pursuing a master’s degree in Architecture at Roger Williams University, with the intention of beginning her studies as early as this fall.
Samantha Rego, a senior in the Graphic Communications program, will graduate as the fifth ranked student in Diman’s Class of 2025. Samantha is currently employed at Epec Engineered Technologies as a Photo and Video Editing Assistant. There, she manages and creates visual ideas. Upon graduation, Samantha plans to attend Roger Williams University where she will major in Graphic Design, hoping to grow in her studies, personal life, and creativity. While at Diman, Samantha joined many clubs, including Photography Club, Key Club, DECA, BPA, NHS, NTHS, Yearbook Club, and Art Club. These clubs helped her use the skills she learned in her Graphic Communications classes and vocational programming. She applied these skills to real-world projects and documented Diman events. Additionally, Samantha engaged in exceptional volunteer work during her high school experience. Some activities were at school, while others were in the community. Samantha helped at events like Diman’s Accepted Student Night, Diman Photo Club — OVS Portraits, the New Bedford Half Marathon, the Children’s Holiday Parade, the Fonseca Spring into Wellness, the Boys and Girls Club Gala, and more. Samantha believes that volunteering allows her to help her community in many ways, while being in clubs lets her show off her skills and highlight other people’s achievements.
Nicholas Resendes, a senior in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) program at Diman, is set to graduate as the sixth-ranked student in the Class of 2025. Nicholas has ambitious plans to pursue higher education at Bridgewater State University this fall, where he will major in Physical Education. During his time at Diman, Nicholas demonstrated a commendable balance between academics and extracurricular activities. He was an active participant in both Spring and Winter Track, showcasing his athletic prowess. Simultaneously, Nicholas gained valuable professional experience through Diman’s Cooperative Education program, securing an installer position at Mike’s Heating & AC. This practical exposure in his field of study has undoubtedly enhanced his technical skills and industry knowledge, preparing him for future college and career success.
Alexah Pedder, a senior in the Medical Assisting program, will graduate as the seventh highest-ranking student in Diman’s Class of 2025. Alexah has been captain of Diman’s softball, cross country, and track and field teams for the past year. She has set four school records in indoor track and field and two in cross country. Her athletic achievements include being named Herald News Runner of the Year in the 2024 fall season and a MayFlower All-Star in both Cross Country and Track and Field for the past two years. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Alexah is actively involved in academic and community service organizations. She is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as the vice president of the National Technical Honor Society. Through these societies, Alexah contributes about 50 hours of community service each year, working to improve her local area. Alexah also participates in other school programs such as DECA, BPA, and SkillsUSA, which have helped her develop important business and professional skills. Looking towards the future, Alexah intends to attend the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth this fall where plans to major in biology with a pre-medicine focus, as she aims to become a pediatrician in the future. This aligns well with her current studies and experience, including her role as a medical assistant during her co-op rotation at Prima Care Millview Medical Center.
Isabelle Rego, a senior in the Metal Fabrication and Joining Technologies program, will graduate as the eighth-ranked student in Diman’s Class of 2025. Isabelle plans to attend the University of Massachusetts Boston this fall, where she will major in Classical Studies. During her time at Diman, Isabelle was actively involved in numerous extracurricular activities, including the National Honor Society (NHS), National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), Key Club, Art Club, Yearbook Club, DECA, Theater, Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA)/Diversity Club, the School Newspaper, and Relay for Life. In addition to her extensive involvement in these clubs, Isabelle maintained a challenging academic schedule, which included many honors and Advanced Placement courses. This hard work, coupled with a willingness to help others and a passion for learning new skills, will help Isabelle succeed in her future endeavors.
Nikolas Harrington, a senior in the Health Assisting program, will graduate as the ninth-ranked student in Diman’s class of 2025. Upon graduation, Nikolas intends to enroll at Bristol Community College as a General STEM major. During his time at Diman, Nikolas was actively involved in the Theatre Arts program, where he achieved significant success. Furthermore, Nikolas participated in Diman’s Cooperative Education Program, working as a Pharmacy Technician in Training at Walsh Pharmacy. What is more, Nikolas challenged himself with many honors and Advanced Placement courses during his four years of study. Combined, these efforts will help Nikolas in all matters STEM, college, and career related.
Joshua Moniz, a senior in the Electronics Engineering Technology program at Diman, will graduate as the tenth-ranked student in the Class of 2025. After graduation, Joshua plans to continue working at his Co-Operative Education job at EMC Technologies while pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. During his time at Diman, Joshua was actively involved in various extracurricular activities, including spring track, winter track, and cross country. He was also a committed member of both DECA (an organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs) and SkillsUSA (a partnership of students, teachers, and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce). Joshua maintained a challenging academic schedule alongside these activities. His ability to effectively manage both vocational and academic challenges will be a valuable asset as he moves forward in his career and education.
