The chum salmon have begun their annual return to Pipers Creek, and Seattle’s Carkeek Park is offering visitors the chance to witness this natural wonder every weekend. Visitors can observe the salmon up close and gain insights from volunteer Salmon Stewards, representing a collaboration between Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Public Utilities, supported by the Carkeek Watershed Community Action Project, according to

The Salmon Stewards will be on-site to provide tours and answer questions every Saturday, and Sunday from November 2 until December 1, between 11 am and 2 pm. This educational opportunity gives visitors a chance to learn more about the lifecycle of the salmon and the ecosystem they support. Additionally, Carkeek Park invites the community to participate in the Salmon Celebration on November 23 where they can partake in various family-friendly activities.

During the Salmon Celebration, several organizations will host educational booths, with offerings like free arts and crafts, music, games, a scavenger hunt, and even the chance to snap a photo with Bert the Salmon, as detailed by the
