Dothan Man Freed by Biden’s Clemency Busted Again for Drug Offenses

Former President Joe Biden commuted the sentence of a convicted felon, and he is now back in jail. Willie Frank Peterson, 52, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine in 2023 and sentenced to six years and three months in prison.

His sentencing begins on September 13, 2023, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

Biden shortened Peterson’s sentence to 20 months on January 17, allowing him to be released shortly thereafter.

On Monday, however, Peterson was arrested in Dothan, Alabama, for a number of drug-related offenses.

The Dothan Police Department charged Peterson with two counts of unauthorized possession of a controlled narcotic and one count of possession of marijuana.

According to police records, Peterson has also been detained for possession of drug paraphernalia and three firearms offences.

Biden demonstrated great leniency in the final days of his presidency by commuting the sentences of a large number of criminals. On December 12, he completed the “largest single-day grant of clemency” by commuting 1,500 people’s sentences and pardoning 39 others.

On January 17, he commuted the sentences of over 2,500 inmates, mostly those convicted of nonviolent drug offences.

“Today’s clemency action provides relief for individuals who received lengthy sentences based on discredited distinctions between crack and powder cocaine, as well as outdated sentencing enhancements for drug crimes,” Biden informed reporters at the time.

“With this action, I have now issued more individual pardons and commutations than any president in US history.”
