Fairfield, Conn. (DDN) – A rollover crash on the Merritt Parkway early Friday resulted in one individual needing to be freed from a vehicle and transported to the hospital.
Images shared on social media by a nearby volunteer fire department revealed a car that sustained significant damage, with airbags deployed. The area around the front driver’s door seemed to have been forcibly opened to allow entry into the vehicle’s interior.
Authorities in Connecticut reported that a rollover accident occurred at approximately 3:50 a.m. on Friday, with the driver subsequently transported to the hospital by emergency medical personnel.
Authorities reported that the collision resulted in “serious injuries.”

Long Hill Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 reported that crews responded to the scene near Exit 47 on the northbound side of the parkway due to a crash involving entrapment.
Firefighters arrived to discover a single-car accident in the median, where one individual was reported to be heavily trapped, according to a statement shared on Facebook by the agency.
The vehicle that crashed was found positioned between the on- and off-ramps of Exit 47.
Emergency teams successfully freed the lone individual in just five minutes, according to fire officials. According to fire officials, the individual was subsequently handed over to medical personnel for care.
Fire officials reported that the Fairfield Fire Department was also called out but was sent back to service before reaching the scene.
According to fire officials, the accident led to the closure of both parkway ramps.
Authorities reported that the agency’s crash reconstruction unit, known as CARS, was called in to aid with the investigation. Officials have closed the highway, but it has now been reopened, according to state police.
