PIEDMONT, CA (DDN) – A teenage driver was found to have a blood alcohol level that was double the legal limit and also tested positive for cocaine at the time of a crash that resulted in the deaths of two friends.
A 19-year-old driver involved in a car crash in California that resulted in the deaths of two others had a blood alcohol level more than double the legal limit and tested positive for cocaine, according to various reports.
Soren Dixon was found to have blood concentrations of 0.195% and cocaine in his system when the Tesla Cybertruck he was driving crashed into a tree, resulting in the deaths of himself and passengers Jack Nelson and Krysta Tsukahara on Nov. 27, 2024.
Autopsy and toxicology reports obtained by the outlets reveal that the passengers in the vehicle had cocaine and alcohol in their systems. Nelson, 20, was said to have a blood alcohol level of 0.168%, while Tsukahara, 19, had a level of 0.028%.
A preliminary investigation and autopsy report from the California Highway Patrol indicated that at approximately 3:00 a.m. local time in Piedmont near Oakland, Dixon, 19, lost control of his vehicle, jumping the curb and colliding with a tree and a wall.
All three victims suffered severe burns in the crash and unfortunately passed away at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that a fourth individual was hurt in the accident and is currently “hospitalized in stable condition.” A report indicates that the injured individual was the fourth passenger who was “pulled from the Cybertruck by a motorist.”

Samantha Miller identified the fourth victim as her 20-year-old son, Jordan Miller, who was a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin.
Dixon, Nelson, and Tsukahara graduated from Piedmont High School, according to the report. Dixon went to the University of Southern California, Nelson studied at the University of Colorado Boulder, and Tsukahara was a sophomore at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Piedmont Police shared in a Facebook press release from December 2024, “Our hearts remain heavy in the aftermath of the tragic vehicle collision,” and expressed gratitude for the community’s incredible support.
The late victims were reportedly home for Thanksgiving break when the incident occurred.
