Driver killed, passenger ejected from vehicle in single-car crash on I-275

(CBS DETROIT) Early on Sunday morning, a single-car collision on I-275 near Romulus claimed one life and injured another.

According to Michigan State Police, the collision occurred on northbound I-275 close to I-94 at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Sunday.

Troopers say the driver of a 2021 Ford Edge struck a concrete bridge pillar after veering off the left side of the road while driving north on I-275.

A passenger in the front seat was thrown out of the vehicle. According to officials, the driver was unable to flee when the automobile took fire. At the scene, the driver was declared deceased.

For medical attention, the traveler was brought to a nearby hospital. It is uncertain what condition they are in.

There is an investigation going on. In addition to notifying the driver’s family, police are trying to identify the motorist.
