Early Morning Crash in DeKalb County Leaves One Child Dead, Six Others Hospitalized

DEKALB COUNTY, Geo. (DDN) – A tragic incident on Interstate 20 in DeKalb County has resulted in the death of one child, while six others have been taken to the hospital for treatment following the crash.

A collision occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate close to State Route 124.

Details surrounding the crash are still scarce, but Capt. Jaeson Daniels from DeKalb County Fire informed FOX 5 that the incident involved several vehicles and resulted in two individuals being trapped.

Emergency responders transported seven individuals to nearby medical facilities for care.

Daniels reported that a juvenile succumbed to their injuries at Arthur M. Blank Hospital. Three individuals continue to be in critical condition.

The names of those affected have yet to be disclosed at this moment.

Officials have yet to disclose the reason behind the accident. All lanes of I-20 westbound were closed for several hours early Monday morning due to the crash.

By 7 a.m., traffic was flowing freely once again on all lanes.
