Early Morning Fire in Davie Mobile Home Kills Three Dogs, Injures One Resident, Authorities Say

DDN – According to authorities, a fire broke out early Friday morning inside a mobile home in Davie, killing three canines and injuring one person.

The fire started just before 4:30 a.m. in the 13000 block of Southwest Eighth Street.

At 6 a.m., Sky 10 hovered above the site, and firemen were still dousing the mobile home with water.

The battalion chief on the scene told Local 10’s Liane Morejon that two residents were present at the time. One was taken to the hospital in stable condition, while the other remained uninjured.

The battalion chief confirmed that all three dogs living at the house had died.

After the fire was out, investigators were able to search the scene, including bringing K9 teams to sniff for accelerants.

The fire, however, proved to be obstinate, rekindling soon before 11 a.m., forcing personnel to return to the scene and extinguish it once more.

The fire’s cause is still under investigation.
