The Florida Highway Patrol detailed that the crash happened around 5:30 a.m., with a 33-year-old man from Columbia, Missouri driving the Freightliner rear-ending the Mitsubishi Fuso. The impact caused the latter to overturn, subsequently, the Freightliner lost control, jackknifed, and collided with a concrete wall. The scene blocked three lanes, causing disruptions in the traffic flow during early morning hours.
