Commuters faced unexpected delays in Manhattan early this morning after an individual was struck by a subway train.

that the incident occurred near West 145th Street and Amsterdam Avenue around 2:50 a.m., causing disruptions to the A subway line in both directions.

Due to the awful event, some southbound A trains were forced to suddenly switch to run on the local track from Hoyt-Schermerhorn streets station to Euclid Avenue. As for C trains, they operated on the express track between 125th Street and 168th Street through 8 a.m., according to the same report. In an effort to minimize disruption, northbound C trains also were rerouted to run on the express track from Canal Street to 168th Street.

The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, but details regarding their condition have yet to be released. As the morning unfolded, travelers were advised that if they needed to reach a bypassed station, alternate routes such as the B train, the No. 1 train, the E train, or the M3 bus were available to them.

Additionally, a similar situation unfolded at the 163rd Street – Amsterdam Avenue subway station in Washington Heights. According to
